DOVER, Del. — Christopher Bell set an Xfinity Series rookie record Saturday with his sixth victory, winning the Bar Harbor 200 at Dover International Speedway.
Bell also took the lead in the points standings by 16 points over JR Motorsports teammate Elliott Sadler. Cole Custer is ranked third, and Daniel Hemric slid from first to fourth in points with an 11th at Iowa.
Elliott Sadler missed the chance to clinch the regular-season Xfinity points title but maintained a sizable margin despite finishing 33rd in a late crash Saturday.
Sadler leads JR Motorsports teammate William Byron by 91 points in the standings with two races remaining in the regular season at Richmond International Raceway and Chicagoland Speedway.
The seven-race playoffs will begin with a 12-driver field in the Sept. 23 race at Kentucky Speedway. Sadler already had clinched a berth on points. William Byron, Justin Allgaier, Ryan Reed and Jeremy Clements have clinched playoffs spots with wins, leaving four berths open.
With his win Sunday at Road America, Jeremy Clements locked himself into the Xfinity Series playoffs.
The driver of the independently owned No. 51 team is the fifth to qualify for the playoffs and the fourth to do so via a win.
Three races remain in the regular season.
Elliott Sadler left Iowa Speedway still holding the Xfinity Series points standings.
With a 54-point lead over JR Motorsports teammate William Byron, Sadler has led the points after all but two races this season. His current stretch dates back to the June 17 race at Michigan.
