This weekend marks the 70th running of the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.

The Cup Series will take to the South Carolina track Sunday night under the lights as part of NASCAR’s fifth Throwback Weekend.

The wunderground.com forecast calls for a high of 81 degrees and a 40% chance of rain and thunderstorms at the race’s start time of 6 p.m. ET. The chance of rain does not drop below 40% until after 7 p.m. ET.

The Cup race will be preceded Saturday by the Xfinity Series race.

The forecast calls for a high of 84 degrees at the 4 p.m. ET start time with a 20% chance of rain until after 7 p.m. ET.

Weekend schedule for Xfinity at Road America, Truck in Canada

If you like road course racing in NASCAR, then this is the weekend for you.

While the Cup Series is off before it visits Darlington Raceway next week, the Xfinity and Gander Outdoors Truck Series are in action on two different road courses in two different countries.

The Xfinity Series is in Wisconsin to turn left and right at Road America, while the Truck Series heads up to Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada, to race at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

For the Xfinity race, wunderground.com forecasts partly cloudy skies with a high of 71 degrees and no chance of rain at the start time on Saturday.

At Bowmanville, the forecast is for sunny skies, a high of 71 degrees and no rain for the start time of the Truck race on Sunday.

After a weekend of racing on a road course and on dirt, the Cup Series and Gander Outdoors Truck Series will compete at Michigan International Speedway this weekend.

The Xfinity Series road course schedule continues this weekend at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

For Michigan, wunderground.com forecasts a high of 76 degrees and clear skies for the start of the Truck Series race.

For Sunday’s Cup race, the forecast is for partly cloudy skies, a temperature of 80 degrees and a 20% chance of rain for the start of the Cup race.

At Mid-Ohio, the forecast calls for sunny skies, a high of 80 degrees and a 1% of rain at the start of the Xfinity race.

This weekend NASCAR will go road-course racing with two of its national series while the third plays in the dirt.

The Cup and Xfinity Series will make their annual visit to Watkins Glen International. The Xfinity Series will hold its first road course race of the season Saturday — and the first of three road course events in the next four races.

Thursday, the Gander Outdoors Truck Series will hold its seventh annual Eldora Dirt Derby at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.

The wunderground.com site forecasts clear skies and a 72 degree temperature for the start time of the Truck Series race.

For Saturday’s Xfinity race, the forecast calls for partly cloudy skies, high of 83 degrees and a 15% chance of rain at the start time.

Sunday’s Cup race sees a forecast of partly cloudy skies, a high of 79 degrees and a 15% chance of rain at the start time.
