FORT WORTH, Texas — Ryan Blaney and J.J. Yeley were held out of the first 15 minutes of the first Cup practice Friday at Texas Motor Speedway.
Blaney’s No. 12 Ford (which is in the Round of 8 playoff cars) and Yeley’s No. 53 Ford were penalized for being late out of the garage for qualifying the Oct. 26 qualifying session at Martinsville Speedway.
There were four practice penalties issued Friday at Texas in the Xfinity Series dating to its most recent race weekend at Kansas Speedway.
Gray Gaulding, John Hunter Nemechek and Joey Gase were held from the first 15 minutes of the first practice for failing inspection twice. CJ McLaughlin’s No. 93 Chevrolet missed the final 30 minutes of first practice for three inspections failures and being late to inspection at Kansas.
Because of inspection failures, two championship contenders were docked time Saturday in the first practice session of the Cup weekend at Martinsville Speedway.
Kevin Harvick will miss the final 30 minutes of practice for failing inspection three times at Kansas Speedway. Harvick failed to make a qualifying attempt for the Oct. 20 race because of the failures.
Martin Truex Jr. will miss the final 15 minutes of practice after failing inspection twice at Kansas.
The 50-minute practice at Martinsville will begin at 9:05 a.m. ET. There will be another 50-minute practice at noon ET. Qualifying for Sunday’s race will begin at 4:35 p.m. ET.

Cup at Michigan International Speedway
Will be served during the last 15 minutes during today’s practice session.
15 minutes: Clint Bowyer (Late out of the garage before qualifying)
Xfinity Series at Mid-Ohio
All penalties will be served at the end of first practice (1:35 – 2:25 p.m ET today on the NBC Sports App)
15 minutes: Tyler Reddick, Vinnie Miller, Justin Allgaier, Chad Finchum, Tommy Joe Martins, Brandon Brown (late to inspection)
15 minutes: Jack Hawksworth (team failed inspection twice)
30 minutes: Joey Gase (late to inspection and failed inspection twice)
Five Cup Series teams will be held for 15 minutes of today’s final practice session at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
Ryan Blaney, Landon Cassill, Chris Buescher and Paul Menard will be docked 15 minutes for being late to inspection.
Daniel Hemric will be docked 15 minutes for failing inspection twice.
NASCAR announced eight practice holds for the Xfinity and Gander Outdoors Truck Series today at Kentucky Speedway.
All the holds will be served at the end of each series’ final practice session.
