Kevin Harvick, coming off his win at Dover last week, posted the fastest lap in Friday’s extended Cup practice at Kansas Speedway. He led the way with a lap of 186.149 mph.
Harvick was followed by Kyle Larson (185.982 mph), Kyle Busch (185.166), Erik Jones (184.634) and Clint Bowyer (184.489).
Matt Kenseth, making his first start of the season, was 28th with a top lap of 179.706 as he worked to get comfortable in the No. 6 Roush Fenway Racing Ford.

Joey Logano ran the most laps at 66. Aric Almirola was next at 52.
Larson had the best average over 10 consecutive laps at 179.685 mph. He was followed by Kyle Busch (179.360 mph) and Almirola (179.316).
Cup teams were to have two practice sessions but they were combined into one because morning rain altered the track’s schedule. There was a delay during the session for water weeping on to the track.
There were no incidents in the session.
