When NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series teams take to Watkins Glen International this weekend they will be racing on the same type of tire.

This will be the first time this tire code has been used and this is the only track it is used at. Compared to what was run at Watkins Glen last year, this tire features a compound change
to give the cars more grip. As on all NASCAR road courses, teams will not run inner liners in their tires at Watkins Glen.

Here’s the tire info:

Set limits: Cup teams will receive three sets for practice, one set for qualifying and five for Sunday’s race.
Xfinity series teams will have six sets for the entire weekend.

Tire Code: D-4716 (same on all four tire positions)

Tire Circumference: 88.23 in. (2,241 mm)

Minimum Recommended Inflation: Left Front -- 26 psi; Left Rear -- 21 psi; Right Front -- 24 psi; Right Rear -- 21 psi

With this weekend being a road course, teams will also have rain tires on hand in case things get wet. Goodyear will bring its wet weather radials (D-4215) for both series.

Wunderground.com predicts chances of overnight rain and thunderstorms Friday night. Chances of rain do not go above 15 percent after 7 a.m. ET on Saturday.
