Martin Truex Jr. wins Stage 1 at Michigan; leads series with nine stage wins

Martin Truex Jr. won Stage 1 of the FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway.

It was Truex’s series-leading ninth stage win of the season. Kyle Busch is next in stage wins with four.

While pole-sitter Kyle Larson led the most laps – 34 of the 60 laps in the first stage – Truex led the final 26 laps. Only Larson and Truex led laps in the stage.

Larson was second, followed by Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin and Matt Kenseth.

Sixth through 10th were Clint Bowyer, Pocono winner Ryan Blaney, Chase Elliott, Joey Logano and Jimmie Johnson.

There were two cautions, one for debris and a competition caution at Lap 25 but no on-track incidents.
