When the command to start engines is given at Kansas Speedway on May 13, don’t be surprised if the most famous words in racing sounds something like this:
“Drivers, start your engines … and Git-r-done!”
The man who made that tag line famous, comedian Larry The Cable Guy, will serve as Grand Marshal for the Go Bowling 400 NASCAR Cup race.
Larry will be on hand for his race day duties, as well as to promote the upcoming June 16 release of the animated movie “Cars 3,” where he reprises his role as Mater for the third time, having also appeared in “Cars” in 2006 and “Cars 2” in 2011.
“I’m thrilled to welcome Larry The Cable Guy to Kansas Speedway for the Go Bowling 400,” Kansas Speedway President Patrick Warren said in a media release. “Larry is not only a great comedian, but also an amazing philanthropist.”
Larry The Cable Guy and his wife Cara, formed the Git-R-Done Foundation, which has raised more than $7 million for various charities, with emphasis on children’s and veteran’s causes.
Here’s some of his more memorable recent tweets:
