Moments after posting the fastest time in the session Trevor Bayne hit the wall at the Final Cup practice at Texas.

Trevor Bayne became the latest driver to wreck in NASCAR Cup Series practice at Texas Motor Speedway during the final session Saturday.

Bayne had just posted the fastest time in the session when he lost control of his No. 6 Ford and smacked the outside wall in Turn 2.

The Roush Fenway Racing driver will go to a backup car.

“Basically I wrecked the fastest car I’ve ever had,” Bayne told Fox Sports. “It’s been a picture perfect weekend we’ve had a really good car. I just got into the gray going into Turn 1. It’s something I know to be disciplined to. I didn’t over drive it. The car really didn’t get that loose, but to be as fast as we were, I kept moving the entry out a little bit at a time to get the car pointed for the center and it was working. I just crossed the line by an inch and got the right rear a little bit in the gray and it was gone.”

Bayne had qualified 12th on Friday, but will start from the rear with his backup car.

Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch, Chase Elliott and Erik Jones have all had some sort of accident this weekend on the repaved 1.5-mile track. The Elliott and Jones crashes were also severe enough to require going to a backup, but their wrecks were before qualifying.
