Multicar wreck collects Kurt Busch, Daniel Suarez and others on Lap 288

Six cars, including Kurt Busch and Daniel Suarez, are involved in a wreck on Lap 288 of the STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway.

MARTINSVILLE, Va. - Six cars, including Daytona 500 winner Kurt Busch, officially are listed as being part of wreck on Lap 288 of the STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway.

Busch was eliminated by the damage to his No. 41 Chevrolet from the crash. The front of Daniel Suarez’s No. 19 Toyota was smashed in the accident, but Suarez was able to continue.

The original accident began when Austin Dillon dove beneath Erik Jones into Turn 1. The two made contact, and it started an accordion effect. NASCAR listed Dillon, Kurt Busch, Jones, Kasey Kahne, AJ Allmendinger and Suarez as being involved in the accident.

Denny Hamlin and Clint Bowyer also pitted for repairs during the caution. Everyone but Suarez and Busch received minor damage.

Busch’s season continues to disappoint following his win in the Daytona 500. The Stewart-Haas Racing driver has finished 24th or worse in the last five races. This is his first DNF of 2017.
