Bristol Motor Speedway’s “Colossus” is taking its show on the road – and what a stage it will be on.

A large segment of the world’s largest outdoor, center-hung, four-sided video screen will hang from the ceiling of the University of Phoenix Stadium, this weekend’s venue for the NCAA men’s basketball Final Four in Glendale, Arizona.

Per a media release from the racetrack, here are the specs of the footprint the mini-Colossus will cast:

“The center hung structure for the tournament will feature an LED top ring that is 80 feet in diameter and 6 feet tall, four high definition video screens that will be 32 feet wide by 18 feet tall, stats screens that will be 24 feet tall by 18 feet tall and a lower ring that will be 60 feet in diameter and 3 feet tall. There will be 764 LED panels, more than 12 million LED pixels, and over 1,800 square feet of LED. The LED screens weigh 38,000 lbs.”

Other parts of the essentially plug-and-play Colossus will be in and around the stadium, as well as another part being on-hand at this weekend’s PGA Tour Shell Houston Open.

But fret not, race fans: all parts of the 700-ton Colossus will be back and in place for next month’s race weekend at BMS (April 21-23), which also will mark its first anniversary at the world’s fastest short track.

One interesting bit of trivia: Colossus’ suspension cables are larger than the those supporting the Golden Gate Bridge.
