NASCAR CEO and Chairman Brian France told the Arizona Republic he has “thick skin” when it comes to criticism of the himself and the sport he leads.
France addresses various subjects in the story, including his endorsement of then Presidential candidate Donald Trump, his management style of the sport his family founded and more.
France’s leadership was put under the spotlight in a recent Wall Street Journal report that stated he attended roughly half of the NASCAR Cup races last year and that he was not part of important meetings about sponsorship and race and format changes.
“A lot of things piss me off but I’ve got thick skin,” France said. “I know where we’re going, and I’m also a student of other sports. That may make me a little unique in our business because I study all the time.
“I don’t have an overabundance of cocky attitude, because I’m collaborative. I have a good sense of what we need to do.”
