Brendan Gaughan made his hometown proud during Friday’s first of two Xfinity Series practices at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
In the initial preparation for Saturday’s Boyd Gaming 300, Gaughan (182.568 mph) was fastest of 37 Xfinity field drivers that were on-track during the 55-minute session.
Defending Xfinity Series champion Daniel Suarez was second-fastest (182.402 mph), followed by Joey Logano (182.322), William Byron (182.242) and Brad Keselowski (181.953).
Sixth through 10th were Brandon Jones (181.61), Kyle Busch (181.427), Darrell Wallace Jr. (181.068), Kyle Larson (180.850) and Xfinity Series points leader Elliott Sadler (180.681).
There will be one more Xfinity practice session later today at 6 to 6:55 p.m. ET, followed by NASCAR Cup qualifying at 7:45 p.m. ET.
