NASCAR penalized Joe Gibbs Racing for violations found in Kyle Busch‘s winning race car from last Saturday’s Xfinity Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

During post-race inspection, Busch’s No. 18 Toyota Camry was found to be too low in the front end.

The L1 violation per the NASCAR rule book was:

  • Sections 20.17.3.2.1.2 Post-Race Front Body Inspection Heights. — Race finish is encumbered per Section 12.10 Encumbered Race Finishes. Post-race height measurements were outside NASCAR allowed tolerances.

As far as penalties:

  • Crew¬†chief Scott Graves has been fined $10,000 and suspended from the next NASCAR Xfinity Series points event.
  • Joe Gibbs Racing has been assessed with the loss of 10 NASCAR Xfinity Series owner points.
  • As an encumbered finish, the win does not count for the team’s eligibility to the (team owner) playoffs.

NASCAR On NBC analyst and former NASCAR Cup driver Jeff Burton said on Tuesday’s edition of NASCAR America that encumbered wins should be penalized by taking away wins, points and cash from the driver or team.
