Jeff Stankiewicz, the GMS Racing crew chief on its No. 23 entry, has been fined $7,500 and suspended one race following two separate infractions after the Camping World Truck Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Stankiewicz has been fined $5,000 and been suspended after the truck driven by Chase Elliott failed post-race height measurements. That’s a L1 infraction and results in an encumbered finish.
Here’s the the L1 violation per the NASCAR rule book:
- Sections 20.17.3.2.1.2 Post-Race Front Body Inspection Heights. -- Race finish is encumbered per Section 12.10 Encumbered Race Finishes. Post-race height measurements were outside NASCAR allowed tolerances.
As an encumbered finish, Elliott’s fifth-place finish does not count toward owner’s points. The No. 23 team has been docked 10 owner points.
Stankiewicz has also been fined $2,500 for not having all 20 lug nuts secured properly.
