How the 59th Daytona played out surprised Greg Biffle, who did not compete in the race for the first time since 2003.
“What surprised me the most was how many cars ran out of gas,” Biffle said, referring to Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson, Martin Truex Jr. and others. “I guess it caught everybody by surprise how short they actually were. When those cars got lined up out front, when they only a 15, 14-car drat, there’s a lot of throttle being used. Not a lot of guys can save in that situation and a lot of guys ran out of gas.”
