The hits just keep on coming in Sunday’s 59th Daytona 500.

With drivers such as Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kyle Busch, Danica Patrick, Matt Kenseth and others already out due to earlier crashes, another big multi-car wreck occurred on Lap 142 of the scheduled 200-lap race.

With Kasey Kahne and Austin Dillon battling for the lead, a multitude of drivers wrecked behind, including Jamie McMurray, Brad Keselowski, Ty Dillon, Daniel Suarez, Kevin Harvick, Chase Elliott, Denny Hamlin, Ryan Newman, Michael McDowell, Daniel Suarez, Landon Cassill and Michael Waltrip.

“We made three wrecks but didn’t miss a fourth one,” Keselowski said. “We did everything right we could control, but we couldn’t control that. These races, you have to have speed, have to execute and have luck. Sometimes you can get away without having any luck, but you can’t have bad luck — and we had bad luck today.”

From a Fox Sports replay, it appeared McMurray was trying to bump draft Elliott, who was moved to his left, triggering all the others to become involved.

The race is under yellow conditions.
