After a one-year absence, comedian Jay Mohr is returning to host the Sprint Cup Awards banquet in Las Vegas this weekend.
Mohr, who hosts “Jay Mohr Sports” on Fox Sports Radio, will headline the NASCAR banquet for the sixth time on Friday when it airs on NBCSN.
“I am proud to be asked again to host the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards,” said Mohr in a press release. “Everyone associated with this organization – the owners, the staff, the racing teams, and the drivers – are of the highest caliber, and it is truly an honor to perform for all of them again. It is by far my favorite thing to do.”
The former host of “Last Comic Standing” last hosted the banquet in 2014. In his opening monologue from 2013, Mohr poked fun at Danica Patrick for her lack of on-track success in NASCAR. Patrick and boyfriend Ricky Stenhouse Jr were not amused.
Joining Mohr in performing Friday night will be music headliner Sting, the band American Authors and singers Skylar Gray and Olivia Holt.
The banquet will be broadcast on NBCSN, the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Coverage on NBCSN begins at 8 p.m. ET with a red carpet show before the banquet starts at 9 p.m. ET.
