Jimmie Johnson overcomes a lost starting position to begin the finale and holds off Kyle Larson heading into overtime to win the Ford EcoBoost 400 and more importantly, the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup championship.

Jimmie Johnson held off Kyle Larson and Kevin Harvick in a overtime restart to win the Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

His first win at the 1.5-mile track earned Johnson his seventh Sprint Cup title, tying him with Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt.

Johnson only led in overtime after starting from the rear of the field for an unapproved adjustment to his car in pre-race.

Filling out the top five was Larson, Harvick, Joey Logano and Jamie McMurray.

Kyle Busch finished sixth and Carl Edwards finished 34th after he was involved in a large wreck on a restart with 10 laps to go.
