NBC Sports motorsports writers Dustin Long and Nate Ryan analyzed Sunday’s championship finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway on the 53rd episode of the NASCAR on NBC podcast.

After studying the drivers’ demeanors in interviews and news conferences during the week and their performances in practice and qualifying Friday, Long and Ryan provided their observations on who might have an edge entering the Ford Ecoboost 400.

Among the topics discussed:

--Whether the breakdown of Carl Edwards’ motorhome be a hindrance or a help to his championship hopes;

--The importance of short pitting and race strategy;

--The underwhelming performance of the title contenders in qualifying;

--The emergence of Kyle Busch’s “edgier” side and whether the swagger bodes well for a repeat championship.
