Truex, Edwards fastest in final Sprint Cup practice at Homestead-Miami

Martin Truex Jr. (174.289 mph) was the fastest driver overall in Saturday’s final NASCAR Sprint Cup practice for Sunday’s season-ending and championship-deciding Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

The fastest of the four Championship 4 drivers was Carl Edwards (174.031 mph), who was second fastest overall.

Ryan Newman was third fastest, just under 1 ½ mph slower than Edwards at 172.723 mph, followed by AJ Allmendinger (172.502 mph) and Chase Elliott (172.408 mph).

The other three Championship 4 drivers and their speeds were Joey Logano (eighth fastest at 171.832 mph), Jimmie Johnson (10th fastest at 171.587 mph) and defending series champion Kyle Busch (170.024 mph).
