Today’s Xfinity race at Homestead: Start time, weather, TV/radio info

A new Xfinity Series champion will be crowned today.

It will be a battle between pairs of teammates with JR Motorsports represented by Justin Allgaier and Elliott Sadler, while Joe Gibbs Racing has Erik Jones and Daniel Suarez fighting for the championship.

Here is all the information for today’s race:

START: “Deadliest Catch” star Jonathan Hillstrand will give the command to start engines at 3:37 p.m. The green flag is scheduled for 3:45 p.m.

DISTANCE: The race is scheduled for 200 laps, 300 miles around the 1.5-mile track.

PRERACE SCHEDULE: The Xfinity garage opens at 7 a.m. The driver/crew chief meeting is at 12:45 p.m. Driver introductions are at 3 p.m.

NATIONAL ANTHEM: Singer Vikina will perform the National Anthem at 3:31 p.m.

TV/RADIO: NBCSN will broadcast the race with its coverage beginning at 2 p.m. with NASCAR America. Countdown to Green follows at 3 p.m. Race coverage begins at 3:30 p.m. Motor Racing Network’s radio broadcast begins at 3 p.m. and also can be heard at mrn.com. SiriusXM NASCAR Radio will have MRN’s broadcast.

FORECAST: The wunderground.com site predicts a temperature of 79 degrees with a 4 percent chance of rain at the start of the race.

LAST TIME: Kyle Larson and Austin Dillon swapped the lead late before Larson drove away for his first and only win of the season. Larson led 118 laps of 200 laps. Erik Jones finished third, followed by Brian Scott and Ryan Blaney.
