HOMESTEAD, Fla. - Championship contender Carl Edwards said his motorhome didn’t make it to Homestead-Miami Speedway because it blew a tire in Tallahassee, Florida. He was given a rental motorhome and it didn’t work before he was given a second motorhome that he has this weekend.
With losing his motorhome, Edwards also was without clothes since those were on the RV. Edwards had to go clothes shopping Thursday at a Miami-area Macy’s.
“They had a police escort to there,’' Edwards said after qualifying 10th for Sunday’s Ford EcoBoost 400. “Drive up and I’m wearing my standard Carl outfit, shorts, dumb shirt and black shoes and I run in there and Brenda helped me. I said, ‘I’m panicked. I’ve got to be on a yacht in 15 minutes and I need something nice to wear.’ ''
While Edwards was trying on clothes, his public relations person, Randy Fuller, was asked by a salesman if he needed help. Fuller told the salesman he was with Edwards. The salesperson, according to Edwards, responded by saying “All right.’'
