Kevin Harvick needed to win at Phoenix to advance to this Sunday’s Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship at Homestead-Miami.

With eight previous wins at the one-mile short track, Harvick looked like a lock to reach the championship-deciding race for the third straight year, including his title win in 2014.
