John Wes Townley will sit out Friday night’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race because of an ankle injury, the team announced Wednesday.

The injury was not related to racing.

A team spokesperson told NBC Sports that Townley stated he rolled his ankle while stepping off a curb on a cobblestone street in Charleston, South Carolina, over the weekend.

Cody Coughlin will replace Townley in the No. 05 Zaxby’s Chevrolet. Coughlin has started nine Truck races this year. His best finish is 12th at Texas in June.

This will be the third race of the year Townley will have missed. He sat out two races in July while being treated for mild concussion-like symptoms.
