Chip Ganassi Racing has announced that hand tool brand GearWrench has joined the team as a”multi-year” primary sponsor on the No. 1 Chevrolet of Jamie McMurray.
The team announced at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas that GearWrech will sponsor McMurray in “multiple” races.
John Constantine, the SVP and president of North American Hand Tools, called the news the “biggest announcement in the history of the GearWrench brand” in a press release.
McMurray had 11 primary and co-primary sponsors in 2016. Next season will be the Joplin, Missouri, native’s 15th full-time season in Sprint Cup.
McMurray qualified for the Chase for the Sprint Cup for the second year in a row this season, but was eliminated after the first round.
With three races left in the season, his average finish is 16.2 with a best result of fourth in the sprint Talladega race.
