Kyle Busch was the best of the rest Sunday at Dover International Speedway.
After leading 102 of 400 laps, Busch finished second to Toyota teammate Martin Truex Jr. But it wasn’t close. Truex led 187 laps and beat Busch to the finish line by 7.5 seconds.
“I was just waiting to make my move,” Busch joked to NBC Sports afterward. “I had him in my sights all day long. No, I’m just kidding. I had nobody in my sights all day long. I was in my own area code, and he was off in his own zip code.”
The good news for Busch is that he is still eligible to defend his 2015 Sprint Cup Series championship. His runner-up effort, his third top-10 finish in the Chase, advanced him to the Round of 12 in the Chase, which begins next weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
