The contact happened during last weekend’s race at Chicagoland Speedway. After the race, Truex said of the incident: “The reason I thought it was intentional is because we were on the straightaway. Typically it’s real easy not to run into somebody’s left rear on the straightaway. As far as I could tell, he did it on purpose. All I can do is assume that and wait for him to tell me otherwise.’’
Friday, Truex revealed some of the conversation he had this week with Harvick.
“We just talked about what our perspectives were on it and agreed that it’s over, it’s done with it and we’ll move on and we’ll race like we always have, which is very hard,’’ Truex said after practice at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
“We’ve raced very hard but always clean. We agreed it was a racing deal and we’ll move forward. Heat-of-the-battle stuff. I was mad, and I didn’t know he was mad also. I guess he thought that I ran into him.
“Luckily, we got through it. The tire rub didn’t cause any big issues because that could have been ugly.’’
