The NASCAR America crew discusses Tony Stewart's admission that he wrecked Ryan Newman at Richmond and whether he should be fined for it.

Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman had quite a bit to say about their wreck at Richmond on Saturday – mostly about each other.

Stewart admitted he intentionally wrecked Newman after the latter hit him from behind two times in a row and a third time earlier in the race.

In Monday’s NASCAR America, our analysts dissected whether Stewart should be fined or penalized by NASCAR for his actions.

“NASCAR has a decision to make and it’s a tough decision,” former driver Jeff Burton said. “NASCAR has said that if drivers are racing each other and stuff happens, that’s NASCAR, that’s quintessential NASCAR.

“People are racing for position and people wreck, then that’s what’s going to happen. Tony Stewart’s going to say, ‘Look, he hit me three times, what am I supposed to do?’ We’ll see what they do.”

Burton added later, “Typically, you don’t want to say that you did it on purpose. That’s typically not a good idea. But it was pretty clear Tony was upset.”
