International Speedway Corporation has announced Rick Brenner as the new president of Michigan International Speedway, beginning Sept. 19.

Brenner is the replacement for Roger Curtis, who was announced as leaving his position of 10 years on Aug. 30.

Brenner comes to the position after 21 years of work in Minor League Baseball. For 10 years he served as president of DSF Sports and Entertainment, the company that owned the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Before that, Brenner was the general manager and chief operating officer of the Trenton Thunder.

In 2009, Brenner was named the Baseball Executive of the Year by Ballpark Digest. Was also named the Eastern League Executive of the Year twice, in 2003 and 2008.

“He is a seasoned sports executive who is well positioned to lead Michigan International Speedway into the future,” said ISC chief operating officer Joie Chitwood in a press release. “We welcome him to the ISC family and look forward to the great things he will accomplish within our company.”

Said Brenner, “I am excited to join the ISC team and become a part of the MIS family. “I am looking forward to the opportunity to be a part of the history at MIS and working with everyone there to build upon their past successes.”

Michigan International Speedway hosts two NASCAR race weekends during the year, in June and August.
