Today’s NASCAR America airs at the special time of 8 – 9 p.m. ET on NBCSN and brings you our big preview of this weekend’s Southern 500.
Dave Briggs hosts with Dale Jarrett in Stamford, Connecticut. They are joined by Jeff Burton from Burton’s Garage and Kyle Petty and Ray Evernham from NBC Charlotte.
Today’s episode includes:
· As we head for NASCAR’s “throwback” weekend at Darlington Raceway, we’re bringing in all the heavy hitters for our NASCAR America Darlington special: Jeff Burton, Kyle Petty, Dale Jarrett, and special guest Ray Evernham. The crew will discuss Darlington’s great history and traditions – and all the sweet throwback paint schemes that honor the sport’s legends.
· Darlington isn’t merely a nostalgia trip, however. It’s always been one of the sport’s toughest venues, where close racing often leads to several of the infamous “Darlington stripes.” Our expert panel of drivers and crew chiefs explain how at Darlington, you are racing against the track as well as your competitors.
· Sunday’s Southern 500 is the next-to-last race in the regular season – and a critical race for drivers on the Chase bubble. Which of them should we keep an eye on to break into the playoffs with a win?
· NBCSN has a big night of NASCAR in store tonight. Following NASCAR America, at 9PM EST is the premiere of “Southern Speed: The Legend of Darlington.” Narrated by multi-platinum recording artist Darius Rucker, the documentary tells how the Southern 500 became one of stock car racing’s great events and features reflections from some of the sport’s biggest figures: Current NASCAR drivers Carl Edwards, Jimmie Johnson and Kurt Busch; NASCAR broadcasting icon Ken Squier; and racing legends Dale Jarrett, Kyle Petty and Jeff Burton.
