Today’s episode of NASCAR America is a special 90-minute episode that airs from 6 – 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN and recaps all of the major stories from the weekend’s action at Michigan and Road America, which featured first-time winners in all three national series.
Dave Briggs hosts with Dale Jarrett in Stamford, Connecticut. They are joined by Jeff Burton and Steve Letarte from Burton’s Garage.
On today’s show:
- 24-year-old driver Kyle Larson recorded his first career Sprint Cup victory this weekend at Michigan International Speedway. All of a sudden there are only three spots in the Chase for the Sprint Cup available for points racers (and just two races remaining in the regular season). And although the champagne may have dried up, we’ll see if Larson’s smile has too – hear from Larson live and see tweets from around the world of racing in our Social Pit Stop segment.
- Chris Buescher started the day at Michigan 13 points ahead of David Ragan, but after engine trouble and Ragan finishing at 29th, Buescher is only seven points clear and barely hanging on to a playoff spot. We’ll hear from Buescher and discuss the mentality he will need to have heading into the last two races.
- We check in with our pit reporters after the race on Sunday in our On The Wall segment.
- Although Jimmie Johnson led early at Michigan this weekend, fueling issues ultimately cost him the race. He did pull out his first back-to-back top 10 finishes since April and is feeling confident as we head into the Chase. Hear from other drivers, including Brad Keselowski on failing post-race laser inspection.
