Car owner Chip Ganassi was finally able to celebrate with Kyle Larson on Sunday afternoon.
Larson broke through at Michigan International Speedway in the Pure Michigan 400 for his first career win in his 99th career start. The 23-year-old is also locked a playoff spot for the first time. For Ganassi, it will be the second consecutive year he’s had a driver in the Chase after Jamie McMurray qualified for the playoffs last season.
Sunday, however, was all about Larson, who moved into the Sprint Cup Series with the organization in 2014 and won Rookie of the Year honors. Ganassi was one of the first to greet Larson in victory lane and said he couldn’t be happier for him.
