Bristol Motor Speedway is the only track on the NASCAR Sprint Cup circuit that has pit stalls along the frontstretch and backstretch. That creates special rules.
During a caution period, all teams must enter pit road in Turn 2, drive down the backstretch pits, on the apron in Turns 3 and 4, down the frontstretch pits and exit in Turn 1 regardless of where their pit stall is located. Failure to do this and a driver will have to restart at the rear of the field.
During a green-flag pit stop, drivers need only enter whatever side of the track their stall is. If their pit stall is on the frontstretch, they enter pit road in Turn 4. If their pit stall is on the backstretch, they enter pit road in Turn 2.
Carl Edwards, who starts on the pole, has the pit stall at the exit of the frontstretch pit stalls. Denny Hamlin, who starts second, has the pit stall at the end of the backstretch pit stalls.
