The Sprint Cup Series’ Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway is back under the red flag for rain.

The race has completed 48 of a scheduled 500 laps.

The race, which is airing on NBCSN, was meant to start at 8:13 p.m. ET but began 43 minutes late due to rain. Rain and lightning in the area delayed the initial start.

Once the green flag flew, Denny Hamlin took the lead from teammate and pole-sitter Carl Edwards. Hamlin led for eight laps before being overtaken by rookie Chase Elliott on Lap 9. Elliott was out front for 14 laps before Kyle Busch took control on Lap 22.

Busch was the leader when the red flag for rain was displayed on Lap 38 at 9:19 p.m. Following a 1 hour, 24-minute delay the red flag was rescinded at 10:43 and the field returned to the track under caution before the rain returned.

The red flag was displayed for the second time at 10:54 p.m.

Kyle Busch currently leads Elliott, Ryan Blaney, Hamlin and Matt Kenseth.
