Jimmie Johnson will see a new front tire changer on his No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet starting this weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway.

In a pre-race release for the Bass Pro Shops / NRA Night Race, Hendrick Motorsports said longtime changer Cam Waugh is moving back to his home state of Colorado. Waugh’s last race was two weeks ago at Watkins Glen International. Johnson finished last, 40th, in the event after being caught up in an accident on Lap 52.

Replacing Waugh will be NASCAR Technical Institute graduate and Veseli, Minnesota, native Kevin Novak.

According to PitTalks, Novak worked for Roush Fenway Racing before recently joining Hendrick Motorsports. Novak has worked with the Lowe’s team before, filling in for Waugh when he was injured earlier this year at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May and Pocono Raceway in June.
