Denny Hamlin‘s paint scheme for the Sept. 4 Southern 500 will be a tribute to three-time Sprint Cup champion Darrell Waltrip.
Hamlin’s No. 11 Toyota, which will be sponsored by Sports Clips, will resemble the No. 11 driven by Darrell Waltrip in 1984 when he won the TranSouth 500 at Darlington Raceway.
The announcement by Joe Gibbs Racing came a day after Blake Koch revealed he’ll have a Darrell Waltrip paint scheme for the Sept. 3 Xfinity Series race at Darlington.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr.‘s No. 17 Ford will look like the car Waltrip drove to his first Sprint Cup win in 1975.
The Southern 500 can be seen on Sept. 4 on NBC.
