NASCAR fined Kurt Busch‘s crew chief, Tony Gibson, $10,000 and placed Gibson on probation through Dec. 31 because of an unapproved body modification before Monday’s Sprint Cup race at Pocono Raceway.
NASCAR stated that the right rear quarter panel on Busch’s car was modified after race inspection. Busch was forced to relinquish his 15th-place staring position and began the race at the rear of the field. He finished 10th.
NASCAR also announced Thursday that Josh Patch, gasman on Chris Buescher‘s winning team, was fined $1,000 for fueling the car with the face shield on his helmet up.
