Danny Stockman talks to NASCAR America about joining Paul Menard’s team and how he’ll prepare for his crew chief debut with the No. 27 car at Pocono.

NASCAR on NBC’s Dave Burns talks to Danny Stockman, who is the new crew chief for Paul Menard in the Sprint Cup Series for Richard Childress Racing.

Asked if this move is about trying to get Menard into the Chase or prepare for 2017, Stockman said: “I think we’re working on 2017 and trying to get that chemistry set for that. I think the sooner the better they thought, let’s just make it happen. ‘Throw me in the fire, I’m ready coach.’ ''

As for what he plans to do this season, Stockman said he made it clear when he spoke to the team.

“We’ve got to take risks,’' he said. “We’ve got nothing to lose. The team is 23rd in points. We’re going to take risks on pit road.’'
