NASCAR America analyzes why Hendrick Motorsports continues to have poor showings in races, after three drivers crashed at New Hampshire and no cars finished in the Top 10 for the third consecutive race. That was the first time it’s happened since the 2000 season, when Hendrick’s driver lineup was Jeff Gordon, Terry Labonte and Jerry Nadeau.

NASCAR on NBC analyst Steve Letarte, a former crew chief on the No. 88 of Dale Earnhardt Jr., gave his diagnosis for the team’s woes.

“I think the most telling stat of Hendrick Motorsports’ seasons in the last two or three years is laps led,” Letarte said. HMS has only led 400 laps through 19 races after leading 881 laps at the same time in 2015 and 1,602 in 2014.
