What was said in the Sprint Cup drivers meeting

A NewHamp drivers meeting

NASCAR addressed passing on pit road during the drivers meeting before Sunday’s Sprint Cup race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

In the rules video, NASCAR added a segment on passing on pit road that stated: ‘‘When entering pit road, all cars must be single file, bumper to bumper and maintain the pit road speed, passing only to the right on entry once a car commits to its pit stall.”

After the video, Richard Buck, managing director for the Sprint Cup Series, further explained the rule, telling competitors:

“There has been a lot of dialogue and questions about pit road rules. We’ll review the rules and explain how we officiate those rules.

“Under caution, no pulling up to pit. You must remain in line single file in front of the caution car to maintain the position and maintain your position. Vehicles must maintain a reasonable speed behind the caution car. Reasonable speed is a judgment call and will be made by NASCAR officials.

“You must enter pit road single-file, nose to tail and bumper to bumper and maintain pit road speed.

“Passing is only to the right and only once the car in front of you commits to its pit stall. Passing will be defined and officiated the same way as during the race on the track; front bumper to front bumper.”

There were no questions from drivers.

Today’s race is scheduled to take the green flag at 1:39 p.m. ET on NBCSN.
