The Xfinity and Sprint Cup Series will use the same tire setup this weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway as they return to action in the northeast.
A two-day tire test May 31 – June 1 resulted in a setup that will use the same left side tire that has run at New Hampshire since 2012. The right-side code, however, is new to the 1-mile oval.
SPRINT CUP AND XFINITY TIRE INFO:
Set limits: Sprint Cup — five sets for practice and qualifying and seven sets for the race; Xfinity — six sets for the event
Tire Codes: Left-side — D-4564; Right-side — D-4706
Tire Circumference: Left-side — 87.64 in. (2,226 mm); Right-side — 88.15 in. (2,239 mm)
Minimum Recommended Inflation: Left Front — 12 psi; Left Rear — 12 psi; Right Front — 30 psi; Right Rear — 27 psi
Compared to what was run at New Hampshire last year, this right-side features a construction change to bring it into line with what is run at Phoenix and Richmond and a compound change to give cars more grip and introduce more wear over the course of a run.
As on most NASCAR ovals one mile or less in length, teams will not run inner liners in their tires at New Hampshire.
