Matt Tifft posted a video update on Twitter Saturday morning, a day after he had surgery to remove a benign tumor on his brain.
Tifft, speaking from his hospital bed and with his head wrapped, said everything went well “other than the fact it feels like someone drilled a hole in my head, kind of painful,” he added with a chuckle.
Tifft already is thinking about his return. He said: “We’ll find out in about a week or two how long it will be … I can’t wait to be on the track soon because I’m totally healthy.”
Tifft was scheduled to have raced two weeks ago at Iowa and Friday night at Daytona for Joe Gibbs Racing before the medical matter. Sam Hornish Jr. won in Tifft’s Xfinity car at Iowa, and David Ragan was in contention for the win in Friday night’s Xfinity race driving Tifft’s car until Ragan was involved in a last-lap crash.
