Jamie McMurray hits Jimmie Johnson, creating a multi-car wreck at the Coke Zero 400 in Daytona.

The first caution for an on-track incident during the Coke Zero 400 occurred on Lap 90 when 22 cars were listed in a crash that began when Jamie McMurray collided with Jimmie Johnson.

Involved in the wreck: Johnson, McMurray, pole-sitter Greg Biffle, Danica Patrick, Martin Truex Jr., Matt Kenseth, Chase Elliott, Paul Menard, Brian Scott, Kevin Harvick, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Chris Buescher, Regan Smith, Matt DiBenedetto, Clint Bowyer, David Ragan, Ryan Newman, Kyle Larson, David Gilliland, Cole Whitt, Michael Annett and Kasey Kahne.

Here’s how those involved in the wreck described what happened:

Kevin Harvick: “Those guys got tangled up there up front and we were in the middle of it. I know I had one car on my roof, and everybody kept piling in. I don’t know for sure who that was.”

Matt Kenseth: “I don’t know what happened up there. Looked like somebody, maybe (McMurray), lost control. I don’t know why. We had a really bad pit stop, and it put us in the back. Should’ve been my sign to hang out in the back. It’s hard to do. Looked like it finally settled out. It was single file, no more three wide ... I was just going to work my way up to the front with Martin (Truex Jr).”

Brian Scott: “I didn’t see a lot. I was on the outside, and our lane seemed to get a good run entering turn 1, and I saw guys check-up and hands out the windows, so I started checking up. Then the checkup kept going, and it became an accordion effect. We were in the wall and jacked up, and I guess (Harvick) came up under me and drove underneath my car, and then I was up in the air. It was a pinball effect.”
