Six Xfinity Series crew chiefs put on probation after Iowa violations

Xfinitylogo

NASCAR has put six crew chiefs in the Xfinity Series on probation following last weekend’s action at Iowa Speedway for altering body panels.

The crew chief include Kevin Meendering (No. 1 of Elliott Sadler), Chris Gabehart (No. 20 of Erik Jones), Brian Wilson (No. 22 of Brad Keselowski), Jason Burdett (No. 7 of Justin Allgaier), Chris Gayle (No. 18 of Sam Hornish Jr.) and David Elenz (No. 88 of Alex Bowman).

All six crew chiefs are on probation through the end of the year after NASCAR found the right-side body panels on their cars had been modified after going through race inspection, which is a P2 level penalty.

Four teams have also been issued written warnings.

The team of Ryan Reed received its second warning and loses 15 minutes of practice at the next race after it failed pre-race laser inspection three times.

The team of Elliott Sadler received its second warning and Harrison Rhodes and Daniel Suarez received their first warnings after failing pre-race laser inspection twice.

A fourth warning would mean the loss of pit selection for a team.
