Defending race winner Matt Crafton fastest in first Truck practice at Texas

FORT WORTH - Matt Crafton was the fastest in the Camping World Truck Series’ first practice session for the Rattlesnake 400 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Crafton, the two-time defending race winner, topped the 45-minute session with a fastest speed of 178.950 mph. The top five was filled out by Timothy Peters (178.554), John Wes Townley (178.412), Daniel Hemric (178.118) and William Byron (177.877).

The Truck Series was originally set to have three practice sessions beginning at 3:30 p.m. ET. The number was reduced to two sessions beginning at 6 p.m. ET after a plane carrying a few Truck series teams and NASCAR officials was delayed in Concord, North Carolina, after experiencing pressurization problems.

The second practice session will run from 7:30 - 9 p.m. ET.
