Citing missed payments from sponsor J. Streicher, Richard Petty Motorsports announced Wednesday that it would suspend its Xfinity Series program.

The team had planned to run the full Xfinity schedule with Jeb Burton.

“This is an unfortunate situation,” said Richard Petty Motorsports CEO Brian Moffitt in a statement. “We make commitments to both our employees and vendors that are based on sponsor commitments, and we take those commitments seriously. We will pursue every avenue to ensure the contractual obligations between RPM and our sponsor are met. We’ll take each week as it comes and do our best to get the No. 43 Ford Mustang on track as much as possible this season.”

J. Streicher has not responded to NBC Sports for comment on the matter.

Burton is 11th in the points. He had one top-10 finish and four top-15 finishes.
