After a successful foray into the Whelen All-American and CARS Late Model Tour circuits the past few years, Myatt Snider will make his ARCA Series debut this month.

Snider, 21, will drive the No. 22 Ford for Cunningham Motorsports in the Menards 200 race May 22 at Toledo Speedway.

It will be the first of nine ARCA races in 2016 for the Charlotte native, who also will race with Cunningham at Pocono Raceway (twice), Michigan International Speedway, Iowa Speedway, Lucas Oil Raceway Park, Chicagoland Speedway, Kentucky Speedway and Kansas Speedway.

Cunningham Motorsports is managed by Paul Andrews, the former Sprint Cup crew chief who won the 1992 championship with Alan Kulwicki.

“This is the big opportunity that I have been dreaming about for several years,” Snider, the oldest son of NBC Sports broadcaster Marty Snider, said in a release. “I feel so blessed to drive for Paul Andrews and Cunningham Motorsports. I’m confident the move up to ARCA will be a smooth transition, especially since Jeff Caudill will be coming with me and continue being my crew chief.”

With Caudill guiding his team, Myatt Snider finished third in the CARS Tour points standings last season, notching five top fives in 10 starts on the Late Model circuit. He closed his 2015 racing season with a win in the UNOH Battle at the Beach all-star exhibition event at Myrtle Beach Speedway.

“We are making sure we are fully prepared to tackle this new challenge,” Snider said. “We’ll be doing quite a bit of testing with Paul and the Cunningham guys before our first race at Toledo. I am so excited and want to come out of the box able to show winning potential.”

Andrews said he was impressed by Snider’s performance last August at Concord (N.C.) Speedway, where he started from the pole and led 86 laps before finishing second in a CARS Late Model event.

“I’ve had my eye on Myatt for a couple of seasons now and have been so impressed with him,” Andrews said. “I had the opportunity to chat with him (at Concord) and have spent a good deal of time with him recently. In as much as he has shown to have an incredible amount of talent behind the wheel, he has proven himself to be the total package. His ability to represent sponsors and interact with the media and fans is as good as it gets.

“I think Myatt and our team is a tremendous fit.”
