NASCAR is expected to release its 2017 national series schedules Thursday, multiple sources confirmed Tuesday to NBC Sports.
The announcement of next season’s slates for the Sprint Cup, Xfinity and Camping World Truck circuits will come several months ahead of a traditional release in late summer and early fall.
NASCAR set a goal of cementing its schedules much earlier with this year’s debut of new five-year sanctioning agreements with its racetracks. Deadlines for tracks to make requests to realign dates were due by March 4. Discussions with track owners to firm up their 2017 dates were due for completion by April 1.
The 2017 season will open Feb. 26 with the 59th running of the Daytona 500.
