Carl Edwards’ victory Sunday in the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway made for the sixth different winner in the Sprint Cup Series this year through eight races.
That means six drivers have all but qualified for the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
On the latest Chase grid, Edwards is fourth behind Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick.
Returning to the top 16 is Ryan Newman after his top-10 finish Sunday. Dropping out is Matt Kenseth, who fell six spots to 18th.
Making his first appearance on the grid after his first top-five finish since winning the 2011 Daytona 500 is Trevor Bayne. The Roush Fenway Racing driver is 16th, 10 points below the cutoff.
Here’s the entire Chase grid following Bristol.
