NASCAR issues changes to rule book regarding testing at repaved tracks

nascar logo 2

NASCAR has announced changes to its rule book, including new guidelines for testing at repaved or resurfaced tracks

Extended practice sessions of up to three hours will be held at the first event at tracks that have been repaved or reconfigured. This will apply to Kentucky Speedway, which will play host to its Sprint Cup race weekend in July.

Rookie/new organization tests are not allowed at repaved/reconfigured tracks prior to that series competing there.

Rookie drivers who qualify for the Chase in the Xfinity Series and Camping World Truck Series also won’t be eligible for rookie tire sets during Chase events.

Rookies usually are given an extra set of tires at every track.
